Some traders at Kumasi Race Course are accusing the military for assaulting them without any reason, when they stormed the area to maintain law and order on Monday 13, November morning.

The military were brought there to maintain law and order at the place over confusion of land ownership among the traders.

Otec News’ Isaac Nsiah Foster reports that some of the traders were subjected to severe beatings following their resistance to move from sheds allocated to them for reallocation.

An eyewitness, Kwame Sarfo , who spoke to OTECNEWS said some of the victims, who were severly beaten, are currently at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) receiving treatments.

They are said to have subjected some of the traders to severe beatings following their resistance to move from sheds allocated to them.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) on Monday, November 6 relocated traders who were selling on pavements, streets and Kejetia as well as unauthorized places in the Central Business District (CBD) to the Race Course.

The exercise is also to ease congestion in the CBD to reduce huge vehicular and human traffics.

Reports say some traders are finding it difficult to be relocated leading to a misunderstanding between them and the city authorities.
